Join us in arty Melbourne to see La Traviata, Tosca and The Wizard of Oz, staying at the luxurious Langham Hotel for seven nights! Escorted by Bonnie and Jess.
On this tour we indulge in all things art, history and food that the bustling city of Melbourne has to offer. From Opera performances to panning for gold, we will enjoy a variety of sights and sounds over this seven night, eight day tour.
While in this wonderful city, we will be attending some fantastic shows, such as Puccinis famous three act opera Tosca, at the Melbourne Arts Centre; a passionate Roman tale of love, lust, torture and betrayal. We will experience Elijah Moshinsky’s and Opera Australia’s presentation of Verdi’s La Traviata, with renowned soprano Corinne Winters as Violetta. Finally, for something we can all sing along to we will see Andrew Lloyd Webbers take on The Wizard of Oz at the Regent Theatre. To add to these amazing performances, Bonnie and Jess will be presenting some rather more intimate concerts, specially for our travellers.
As for sites, we will explore the destinations that boast most popular in Melbourne!
A tour of the Parliament House of Victoria, where we learn about the stunning nineteenth century architecture, Queens Hall, the Library and chambers, followed by lunch inside Parliament House. A day in Ballarat; the most significant gold rush “boomtown” in Australia during the Victorian era. Here we will visit Sovereign Hill, an open-air gold mining museum, and experience what life was like at the peak of gold mining. We will even pan for gold! A day in Yarra Valley, with visits to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery where we indulge in wonderful handcrafted chocolates and ice creams, Victoria’s very first vineyard Yering Station, and Rochford Vineyard.
Given that Melbourne is both the food and fashion capital of Australia, we will also have plenty of free time to shop-till-we-drop!
