Returning for Operatunity’s Divas and Divos, New Zealand’s own Three Tenors, Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua, Derek Hill and Kalauni Pouvalu present a soaring tribute to the greatest voices of all time. Pavarotti, Maria Callas and Andrea Bocelli are just some of the singers celebrated in this programme of operatic and crossover favourites, interspersed with humour, film clips and delightful anecdotes.
A Principal Resident Artist with Operatunity, audiences are well acquainted with Bonaventure, or Bonnie as he is better known. Since starting out in Operatunity’s Class Act Opera 12 years ago, he has developed a reputation for his ease across genres, crooning ballads with his guitar, and performing with New Zealand Opera.
Canadian-Kiwi Derek recently stepped into a different kind of role welcoming a baby girl to his family. A graduate of McGill University in Montreal with high distinction in voice, it was only natural he would go on to perform with New Zealand’s most illustrious companies including New Zealand Opera, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
Though the youngest of the group, Kalauni certainly has no trouble keeping up with his esteemed colleagues. A graduate of the University of Auckland, he has won both the Conal Coad Opera Australia prize and Dame Kiwi Te Kanawa Foundation Award for most promising classical singer at the New Zealand Singing School.
The trio will be performing together, alongside sopranos Amanda Atlas and Susan Boland, and accompanied by principal repetiteur for New Zealand Opera David Kelly.
Divas and Divos is touring NZ 08 October - 09 November, 2018. Book online or call toll free 0508 266 237.
