Peking Man vocalist Pat Urlich

Pat Urlich, vocalist of the hit 80’s band Peking Man, has joined Operatunity for our nationwide Shake, Rattle & Roll tour 5th June - 6th July!

Pat joins Suzanne Lynch, Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua, Karl Perigo and band to perform memorable hits from the 50’s & 60’s from the likes of Elvis, Doris Day, Connie Frances and Bill Hayley and the Comets!

Pat Urlich has always has a taste for music. Growing up in West Auckland, Pat studied both singing and piano in his schooling years, and once he had left he studied classical singing with highly respected vocal teacher Dorothy Hopkins.

In 1983, Peking Man was formed with Pat as lead vocalist, but it was in 1985 when Pat's younger sister Margaret Urlich joined him on vocals that they saw their utmost success. The group, made up of two vocalists and six musicians, had chart topping hits through-out 1985-86 such as Room that Echoes and Good Luck to You, with Pat taking home the 1986 award for Best Male Vocalist at the New Zealand Music Awards. Since that time Pat has performed in various shows including Porgy and Bess and Messiah.

Now residing on Waiheke Island, Pat is a well-established band co-ordinator and vocal coach, while also performing gigs both as a solo artist and with his band. If you haven't seen Pat's stunning Elvis impersonation (or even if you have), you're in for a treat!
