Bonnie, Derek and Kalauni have performed as The Three Tenors with Operatunity on many occasions, both in New Zealand and overseas while hosting Operatunity tours. The charming trio melodise together perfectly, and are well known for making their performances light, fun and even a little cheeky! They reunite through out October and early November to bring you a concert full of fabulous voices, camaraderie, banter and fun!

Bonaventure, better known as ‘Bonnie’, has been performing with Operatunity for nearly 15 years, “I live and breathe Operatunity.” Of Rarotongan heritage, Bonnie spent his early years in Wellington before studying opera singing at the University of Auckland. In 2004 Bonnie was awarded the Iosefa Enari Scholarship Award for the support and development of Pacific Island Opera Singers, was a finalist for the New Zealand Aria competition in 2007-2008 and has performed with New Zealand Opera. Effortlessly able to sing music across genres, from swing, to music theatre, to opera, and handy with a guitar, Bonnie has astounded audiences with his versatility and innate charisma.

Canadian born Derek Hill started his music endeavours as a bass guitarist in a rock band! But soon found that singing was his real passion stating, “I wanted to learn how to be a back-up singer, so I started taking singing lessons and it went from there.” Derek has gone on to become a Resident Artist with New Zealand Opera, and an in-demand soloist with orchestras such as Bach Musica. Derek says audiences of this concert can expect “beautiful melodies, harmonies and a lot of fun.

Youngest of the tenors, Kalauni has already amassed an impressive line-up of achievements since graduating from the University of Auckland. He is the past recipient of the Conal Coad Opera Australia Prize, the Dame Kiri Te Kanawa Award for the most promising classical singer at the New Zealand Singing School and a finalist in the IFAC Handa NZ Singing School Aria Competition. He has been singing with Operatunity since 2014.

Featuring the greatest melodies ever written, celebrate fabulous voices, camaraderie, banter and fun! Don’t miss Derek alongside fellow tenors Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua and Kalauni Pouvalu, soprano Susan Boland, baritone Alex Milligan and pianist Paul Carnegie-Jones in The Three Tenors, touring nationwide 7th October – 8th November.
