Three Tenors, Triple the Thrills

Three Tenors, Triple the Thrills

A delicious melange of stirring passion and cheeky banter, three of New Zealand’s finest tenors come together again to thrill audiences with their soaring voices. From the luscious “Pearl Fishers Duet” to the vivacious “Mambo Italiano”, Operatunity’s tenors will bring to life the most beloved melodies ever written, including of course their signature “Nessun Dorma”.

Leading the tenors is Operatunity Principal Resident Artist, Rarotongan-Kiwi Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua. Bonaventure, better known as Bonnie, was snapped up by Operatunity at the tender age of 21 with Operatunity co-owners Susan Boland and John Cameron recognising extraordinary talent in the shy young University of Auckland music graduate. It’s now been 15 years since Bonnie joined the company and through Susan and John’s development he has blossomed, winning the affections of audiences around New Zealand with his big heart and captivating voice.

Joining Bonaventure is Canadian-Kiwi Derek Hill who has taken the New Zealand opera scene by storm performing principal roles with New Zealand Opera, New Zealand Symphony and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. Perhaps his most important role however is as dad to his little boy and baby girl that are now at the forefront of his life.

The youngest member of the tenors is Tongan-Kiwi Kalauni Pouvalu who has amassed an impressive list of accomplishments for his age. These include winning the Dame Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation Award for most promising classical singer, the Conal Coad Prize and Marie D’Albini Scholarship. Despite his age he certainly has no trouble keeping up with his esteemed colleagues and together they create an infectious energy audiences keep coming back for.

Operatunity’s The Three Tenors tours 26venues nationwide 24th May – 25th June 2021. The show will delight audiences with the greatest melodies ever written, delivered with Operatunity’s signature charm and cheekiness. It stars tenors Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua, Kalauni Pouvalu and Derek Hill, with award winning soprano Susan Boland and pianist Paul Carnegie-Jones.
