Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and famous for Gaudí and other Art Nouveau architecture, Barcelona is one of Europe’s trendiest cities.

 

Highlights Include: 

• On arrival in Barcelona, we will be transferred to our hotel, where we will enjoy a casual dinner before an early night after our long flight.

SATURDAY 26 APRIL 2025 (B, L) BARCELONA

Highlights Include: 

• Visit the historic Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic), where narrow cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and charming squares create a captivating atmosphere.  

• Visit the Barcelona Cathedral, a stunning example of Catalan Gothic architecture, and wander through the labyrinthine alleys. 

• Wander one of the most famous markets in the city followed by a hands-on cooking class. Then, enjoy lunch with the group. 

• Relish a captivating performance at the Palau de la Música Catalana, a modernist concert hall, a UNESCO World Heritage site (subject to availability).

• This morning, for a taste of Spanish art, we visit the Picasso Museum, which houses one of the most extensive collections of artworks by the legendary painter Pablo Picasso.

MONDAY 28 APRIL 2025 (B, D) TRAIN TO MADRID  

Hotel Preciados, Madrid (5 nights) 

Madrid, Spain’s central capital, is a city of elegant boulevards and expansive, manicured parks.

Highlights Include: 

• Transfer to the train station and we take the high-speed train to Madrid. Our luggage will be taken by coach and will be at the hotel in the evening, so we do not have to worry about luggage on the train.  

TUESDAY 29 APRIL 2025 (B, L) MADRID AND THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE OF ART 

Highlights Include: 

• Embark on a panoramic bus tour of Madrid to unravel the city’s diverse tapestry of cultural and historical treasures. 

• Lunch at the restaurant of Círculo de Bellas Artes, a private, not-for-profit cultural institution created in 1880. 

• Tour of the golden triangle of art in Madrid, including the Museo del Prado, which has numerous masterpieces by Goya, El Greco Velazquez, Rembrandt, Titian and Van Dyck and Spanish paintings.

WEDNESDAY 30 APRIL 2025 (B, D) FREE DAY IN MADRID 

Highlights Include: 

• Free day to enjoy our own tours which could include a captivating shopping experience, exploring the upscale boutiques along Gran Vía for high-end fashion or the trendy neighbourhood of Chueca for unique finds. 

• Show at The Teatro Real, an Asset of Cultural Interest of the Spanish Historical Heritage. We learn about the history of the theatre from its inauguration in 1850 to the present day (subject to availability).  

THURSDAY 1 MAY 2025 (B, L)

TOLEDO: THE CITY OF THREE CULTURES 

Highlights Include: 

• Transfer to Toledo, for a full day tour with a local guide, including a visit to the Cathedral, an excellent example of Spanish Gothic art, María La Blanca synagogue and the Cristo de la Luz Mosque, the oldest monument of the city with lunch included.

SATURDAY 3 MAY 2025 (B, D) TRAIN TO GRANADA 

NH Granada Victoria, Granada (3 nights) 

Granada is a city in southern Spain’s Andalusia region, known for grand examples of medieval architecture dating to the Moorish occupation, especially the Alhambra. 

 

Highlights Include: 

• Transfer to the train station and train to Granada. Our luggage will be transferred by coach and be dropped at the hotel.  

• Free time to get to know Granada after check in at the hotel.

• Travellers need to be independently mobile and fit to travel.

Mobility - Active Tour

All our trips are specifically designed for our core market, but this trip does contain travel challenges, either because of the region visited or the walking distances or uneven surfaces that arise at some sites. We do advise that you evaluate your level of fitness with your doctor before you consider booking this tour. This is still a moderately paced tour, but you will be required to walk longer distances, walk on cobblestones and ancient ruins and stand in museums. To really get the best out of this tour you need to be able to stand or walk for a couple of hours comfortably, be it at a leisurely pace. You also need to be able to climb up to three flights of stairs at a leisurely pace. If you are unsure, please ring the office to discuss your suitability for our tours.
