SPECIAL FEATURES

• We circumnavigate the whole island on our 13-day tour and present to you an in-depth insight into its history, culture, uniqueness, and natural splendour. And of course, we add musical flavour from our artists!
• Tasmania is Australia’s smallest state but it packs a lot in and like New Zealand is bigger than it looks, filled with diverse scenery with over 40 percent reserved as national park and World Heritage areas. It also has wonderful, friendly, helpful people who enjoy a relaxed island lifestyle, fabulous wine and food and a haunting history evoked by spectacular convict-era ruins.
• Musical events from our hosts Russell Dixon, Isaac Pawson and Heather Wilcock including welcome dinner and concert:
Hits of the 50s and 60s! a great way to kick off our music with hit after hit from these great decades of music, Showstoppers! in a vineyard, featuring best loved songs from many different genres: musicals, country, rock and roll, 60s and 70s music and so much more, and final night gala dinner with concert: Tennessee Waltz - great songs from country music through to Americana and everything in between.
• A full day tour to the Port Arthur Convict Settlement with its rich history of Australia’s convict past with a guided walking tour, a short harbour cruise, plus 30 buildings, ruins and restored gardens and houses.
• Picturesque Dove Lake at the foot of Cradle Mountain plus travel past mountain ranges, swift flowing rivers, steep gorges and historic mining towns.
• Hobart (6 nights), Strahan (2 nights), Launceston (3 nights), Cradle Mountain (1 night).
• Cruise the Gordon River into the heart of Tasmania’s wilderness. Cross the vast Macquarie Harbour, past Sarah Island, worst convict settlement of all and follow the Gordon through stands of ancient Huon pine, sassafras and

myrtle rainforest.

TRIP ITINERARY

Experience the Exceptional:

TUESDAY 1 DECEMBER 2026 (D)
Macq01 Hotel, Hobart (3 nights)

• On arrival at the Hobart Airport be greeted by our Tasmanian coach driver and welcomed aboard the luxury 5-star touring coach.
• Travel to nearby Rosny Lookout for panoramic views of Hobart against the majestic backdrop of the Wellington Range.
• Depending on time of flights we will cross the Tasman Bridge to Hobart City, then an orientation tour that includes historic Battery Point, Salamanca Place, Constitution Docks and the waterfront. (If flights are later in the day we will transfer these activities to another
day.)
• Arrive at our centrally located accommodation for midafternoon check-in then time to freshen up before a light dinner at the hotel.

WEDNESDAY 2 DECEMBER 2026 (B, L, D)


Highlights Include:

• Morning visit to MONA, the museum of old and new art, with an intro talk and free time to wander followed by lunch. MONA is gaining a reputation as one of the world’s great museums and must be seen to be appreciated. The Museum does contain a
few controversial pieces that some people may find offensive but love it or hate it, you’ll certainly be talking about it.
• After our visit it’s back to the hotel for free time before our private dinner and concert
Hits of the 50s and 60s at a local exclusive winery! A great way to kick off our music with hit after hit from these great decades of music.

THURSDAY 3 DECEMBER 2026 (B)

Highlights Include: 

• Travel via Sorell Causeway and Midway Point for our full day tour to Tasman Peninsula.
• Take in magnificent views from the look-out above picturesque Eaglehawk Neck and Pirates Bay before continuing to the Port Arthur Convict Settlement. Within the 40 hectares of landscaped grounds lies a rich history of Australia’s convict past. Included in the entry is a
guided walking tour, a short Harbour Cruise, access to the Visitor Centre and Interpretation Gallery as well as more than 30 buildings, ruins and restored gardens and houses.
• Explore as you wish before departing the historic site to tour beside Norfolk and Frederick Henry Bays back to Hobart.

FRIDAY 4 DECEMBER 2026 (B, L, D)
Strahan Village Hotel (2 nights)

Highlights Include: 

• Departing Hobart this morning, tour the picturesque Derwent Valley through New Norfolk to climb the Central Plateau. Follow the Wild Way through trout lakes, mountains, gorges and the Wild Rivers National Park.
• Pass through Tarraleah Gorge, site of early hydroelectric  installations and take a tour of “The Wall”, a work in progress depicting the history of the region beautifully carved in Tasmanian timbers.
• Lunch at the beautiful Tarraleah Estate.
• Take a break at Derwent Bridge before a short walk into the delightful Nelson Falls. Cross Lake Burbury and descending through the ghost towns of Linda and Gormanston to the copper mining town of Queenstown.
• Continue to the harbour side village of Strahan and our accommodation for the next 2 nights at Strahan Village.

SATURDAY 5 DECEMBER 2026 (B, L, D)

Highlights Include: 

• Today we cruise the incomparable Gordon River into the heart of Tasmania’s wilderness and the edge of World Heritage Area.
• Cross vast Macquarie Harbour, past Sarah Island, worst convict settlement of all and follow the Gordon through stands of ancient Huon pine, sassafras and myrtle rainforest to step ashore for a wilderness boardwalk at Heritage Landing.
• Voyage to Hell’s Gates, the aptly named harbour entrance where many early ships were destroyed by ferocious ocean swells.
• On return to Strahan, there will be an opportunity to further explore the village or return to the hotel.
• This evening after dinner we enjoy a local play,
The Ship That Never Was, which tells the dramatic and hilarious true story of the Great Escape from Sarah Island.

SUNDAY 6 DECEMBER 2026 (B, L, D)
Novotel Hotel, Devonport (1 night)

Highlights Include: 

• Continue north through rainforest and mineral rich mountains, crossing the Vale of Belvoir and alpine cattle country to reach Cradle Mountain National Park. Board the shuttle bus to Dove Lake at the foot of the crags of Cradle Mountain and visit Waldheim, forest home of pioneer Gustav Weindorfer.
• Enjoy lunch and the visual delights of the Wilderness Gallery at the Cradle Mountain Hotel.
• Later in the afternoon, we will have the chance to get up close and personal with the Tasmanian Devil as we visit Devils@Cradle and learn about the challenges facing this endangered species.
• Visit the town of Sheffield and admire the evocative out-door art gallery of impressive murals on route to our overnight  accommodation at the Novotel, Devonport.

MONDAY 7 DECEMBER 2026 (B, L, D)
Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston (3 nights)

Highlights Include: 

•Today we slowly make our way to Tasmania’s second largest city, Launceston.
• Along the way we enjoy the Cradle to Coast Tasting Trail including chocolates, cheese, a raspberry farm and distillery.
• Travel the old Bass Highway through the beautiful historic villages of Deloraine and Westbury before arriving in Launceston, where we will stay for the next three nights.

TUESDAY 8 DECEMBER 2026 (B, L)

Highlights Include: 

•After a leisurely start this morning explore Launceston’s city centre and magnificent Cataract Gorge with its cliff-side gardens, peacocks, pools, suspension foot bridge and one of the longest single span chairlifts in the world (ride is optional and own expense).
• Stroll in City Park and the John Hart Conservatory noted for displays of begonias, cyclamens and other hothouse blooms.
• Enjoy a gourmet BBQ lunch and sample some of the delicious products at the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company before travelling to Longford to tour the World Heritage Woolmers Estate and National Rose Garden. This property shows a fascinating reflection of colonial life in Tasmania with the Rose Garden displaying
one of the finest collections of historic roses in the Southern Hemisphere.
• Return to our accommodation in the early afternoon with free time to relax before dinner (own cost).

WEDNESDAY 9 DECEMBER 2026 (B, D)

Highlights Include: 

• Take some free time this morning to explore Launceston at your own pace.
• Afternoon travel along the Tamar Valley, soaking up the views from Brady’s Lookout before arriving at a beautiful vineyard for platters, wine and concert:
Showstoppers! Featuring best loved songs from many different genres: musicals, country, rock and roll, 60s and 70s music and so much more.

THURSDAY 10 DECEMBER 2026 (B, L, D)

Highlights Include: 

• This morning we travel the Heritage Highway to Campbell Town where we’ll stop for a short break, travel the beautiful East Coast and spend time at Coles Bay and the Freycinet Peninsula.
• Visit Cape Tourville for spectacular views over the Southern Ocean and along the East Coast.
• After lunch, follow the Tasman Highway, pass through Swansea and pause at the convict built, enigmatic Spiky Bridge. Follow the Prosser River valley through Buckland and Cambridge to cross the picturesque Derwent River into the city of Hobart nestled at the foot of Mount Wellington.

FRIDAY 11 DECEMBER 2026 (B)

Highlights Include: 

• This morning we travel to the nearby Mt Nelson for spectacular views over Hobart and Storm Bay.
• Next we enjoy some quiet moments in Hobart’s Royal Botanical Gardens, vibrant with spring colours and blooms then travel to the historic village of Richmond.
Walk across Australia’s oldest bridge, built by convict labour between 1823 and 1825.
• Visit the cemetery of Australia’s oldest remaining Catholic Church, St Johns, built in 1836 or browse through the many delightful craft shops, galleries and food stores. There are many cafes and restaurants serving beautiful Tasmanian produce.
• Free afternoon and evening.

SATURDAY 12 DECEMBER 2026 (B, D)

Highlights Include: 

• Full day free to enjoy your own tours or visit the famous Saturday Salamanca Markets today.
• Final night gala dinner with concert:
Tennessee Waltz, great songs from country music through to Americana and everything in  between.

SUNDAY 13 DECEMBER (B)
This morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we are transferred to Hobart Airport for our flights home.

Mobility - Moderate Tour

This trip has a little more walking than an easy tour. It is a moderate tour for one of the following reasons - you may need to walk with ease for up to one hour at a slow pace or be able to climb stairs or be able to get on and off boats, trains and buses.This trip will not suit those on walkers and a moderate level of mobility is required.
