Kelly Harris and Tainui Kuru reunite on stage to star in The Dancing Years!
Kelly and Tai had not crossed paths in the performing arts world before working for Operatunity, but it was certainly a match made in heaven when they lit up the stage earlier this year in From Phantom to Les Mis singing “Sun and Moon” from Miss Saigon and providing some great tap dancing. Their performance chemistry was magic and Operatunity’s Director, Sue Boland, is thrilled that she had the forethought to cast them together in another tour in 2019; “I just loved watching them perform together. They are such a crowd pleaser, so talented and make us all feel happy!”
Sue has planned two duets for Tai and Kelly in The Dancing Years, Gershwin’s “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” and crowd favourite, “Singin’ in the Rain”.
Along with singing, Tai and Kelly are talented tap dancers and audiences can expect this skill will be put to good use in The Dancing Years. Also, with the concert featuring songs from the 1920s through to the late 1940s Kelly has been working on her Charleston, “it's not the easiest dance move, but once you get the hang of it it’s so much fun!”
The show is filled with fun and familiar song and dance numbers like Anything Goes, Puttin' on the Ritz, Stepping out with My Baby and Lullaby of Broadway.
Tai and Kelly will be joined in The Dancing Years tour by Karl Perigo, Alex Milligan, Hamish McGregor, and last year’s Pantomime Cinderella, Alex Foster.
Don’t miss Operatunity’s The Dancing Years concert touring 24 venues around NZ 4th June - 5th July.
