Beginning in Prague, known as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, we will stay four nights at the 5-star Boscolo Prague Hotel. Travellers will explore the city’s artistic splendour with guided tours to some of Prague’s most historical landmarks like Saint Vitus Cathedral and Prague Castle, and experience Tosca performed at the National Theatre of Prague, a highly prized theatre of the Czech Republic, built in 1883.
From Prague we go Dresden, the capital of Saxony state in Germany. With arguably one of the most beautiful Opera’s houses in the world, Operatunity travellers will enjoy The Marriage of Figaro at Dresden Semperoper; originally built in 1841, and restored in 1878 after a devastating fire. After the Second World War, the inner city of Dresden was all but destroyed, however the most historic buildings were rebuilt, including the Zwinger Palace. Famous for its outstanding baroque architecture, we will have a guided tour through its various museums. We will also visit art galleries to gaze upon some the of the most famous Renaissance and Baroque artwork, and go to the Albrechtsburg porcelain factory.
From Dresden, we travel an hour west to Leipzig, staying two nights at the 4.5-star Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof, located in central Leipzig. Germany’s fastest growing city, Leipzig is often called the ‘New Berlin’ for its high quality of living. Whilst here, Operatunity travellers will get to marvel at the third oldest opera house in Europe, while attending La Traviata and Turandot at Operahaus Leipzig, built in 1693. Home to composer J.S Bach, we will visit the Bach Museum; housing many of Bach’s original manuscripts and instruments, and the remainder of the Bose family art collection, all while listening to Bach’s famous compositions.
Travelling north, we’ll find ourselves in Berlin for four nights at the 4.7-star Hotel AM Steinplatz, in Charlottenberg. Whilst in Berlin we will have a guided tour through the state, including the Pergamon Museum and Brandenburg Castle, and experience both walking and boat tours of Potsdam’s castles and palaces. We will also attend Faust at Deutsche Opera.
