Affectionately known as “Ebony and Ivory”, “Salt and Pepper”, and “The black ‘n’ white minstrels”, Operatunity’s dynamic duo, Karl Perigo and Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua, have been delighting Operatunity audiences together for over three years. This year they grace the stage once more for our hits of the 50’s and 60’s concert Shake Rattle & Roll, promising “a slick production full of costumes, wigs, shoes, hilarity, talented cast and memories”.
The secret to this iconic pair’s chemistry? Perhaps how well Bonnie manages to keep up with Karl, who describes himself as “unpredictable…what you see on stage is raw and impromptu”. Thankfully Bonnie finds this “different and exciting” albeit “pretty scary” at times. As long as Bonnie keeps strumming his guitar they know they’ll eventually get to the end!
It certainly helps that they have a deep respect for each other as performers. When asked about Bonnie, Karl gushes saying, “first and foremost he is amazingly talented. Vocally he can style and shape his voice to suit any genre of music”, cheekily adding, “if it wasn’t for Jess I would marry him myself!”
See Karl and Bonnie perform 50's and 60's hits together alongside Suzanne Lynch and Pat Urlich in Shake, Rattle & Roll, touring nationwide June 5 – July 6.
